Smash Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 4 slices thick cut bacon, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Lettuce

Directions

  • Step 1:

    Place bacon in freezer until frozen, about 30 minutes.

  • Step 2:

    Remove from freezer and finely chop or pulse in a food processor.

  • Step 3:

    Combine ground beef, bacon and onions.

  • Step 4:

    Form into 4 equal sized balls.

  • Step 5:

    Place cast iron skillet in a hot grill until it smokes, spray with cooking spray.

  • Step 6:

    Place 2 balls in skillet and smash to about 3/4 inch with a metal spatula, cook 3 minutes, flip and cook until desired doneness, top with cheese.

  • Step 7:

    Serve with buns and desired toppings.
