Barbecue Glazed Hot Dogs with Spicy Slaw

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp whole grain mustard
  • 1 ½ tsp picking liquid (from pickled jalapeno jar)
  • 2 Tbsp plus 2 tsp barbecue sauce, divided
  • 2 ½ cups finely chopped red cabbage
  • 2 ½ cups finely chopped green cabbage
  • 1/3 to ½ cup shredded carrot
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 Tbsp finely chopped pickled jalapenos
  • 4 hot dogs
  • 4 hot dog buns

Directions

  • Step 1:

    In a large bowl, mix together mayonnaise, mustard, pickling liquid, and 2 tsp barbecue sauce.

  • Step 2:

    Add red and green cabbage, carrot, green onions and jalapenos. Toss to combine. This is best to make the night before so the flavors can develop.

  • Step 3:

    Using a paring knife, make 3 diagonal slits across the top of each hot dog, then 3 more in the opposite direction.

  • Step 4:

    Grill hot dogs, rotating and glazing with the remaining 2Tbsp barbecue sauce, until charred, about 3 – 5 minutes.

  • Step 5:

    Serve each hot dog in a bun and top with spicy slaw. Serve remaining slaw on the side.
