Double Double Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 lb. bratwurst sausage, casing removed
  • 1 large sweet onion, medium diced
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 can (28 ounce) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 can (15 – 16 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 – 16 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 Tbsp pickled jalapenos, minced
  • 1 Tbsp fresh minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp whole cumin seed
  • 1 Tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 2 cubes chicken bouillon
  • 2 Tbsp Texas Pete hot sauce

Directions

  • Step 1:

    Add the ground beef, sausage, and onion to a large stockpot and cook on medium heat. Break the meat into large pieces. Use a spoon to continue to break meats into smaller pieces as it cooks. Continue to cook until the meat is no longer pink. Drain the grease.

  • Step 2:

    Add 8 cups of water to the stockpot.

  • Step 3:

    Add the remaining ingredients and bring contents to a rolling boil.

  • Step 4:

    Reduce heat to a slow boil and cook for 1 hour, stirring every 10 – 15 minutes.

  • Step 5:

    Serve with optional toppings.
