Italian Stuffed Shells

Ingredients

  • 1/2 box jumbo shells, (about 15 shells), cooked according package directions
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 30 ounce jar pasta sauce
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese save 1/2 cup for top of shells
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 4 cups roughly chopped fresh

Directions

  • Step 1:

    In a large skillet brown sausage and drain off any excess fat.

  • Step 2:

    Pour pasta sauce into skillet with sausage, simmer while preparing rest of ingredients.

  • Step 3:

    Combine cheeses and egg, stir in spinach.

  • Step 4:

    Stuff each shell with about 2 tablespoons of mixture.

  • Step 5:

    Pour about 1/2 cup of sauce in bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.

  • Step 6:

    Place stuffed shells opening side up on top of sauce.

  • Step 7:

    Pour remaining sauce over shells and top with remaining cheese.

  • Step 8:

    Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly.
