Vidalia Onion Rings with Spicy Ketchup

Ingredients

  • 2 large Vidalia onions, cut into 1/8 inch slices
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha hot chili sauce (found in the Asian section of the grocery store)

Directions

  • Step 1:

    Combine spicy ketchup ingredients and refrigerate until ready to use.

  • Step 2:

    Combine onion rings, buttermilk, garlic and hot sauce in a large bowl and marinate for 1 hour. Remove onions from buttermilk mixture.

  • Step 3:

    Combine flour, garlic, and oregano, then coat rings with flour mixture.

  • Step 4:

    Fry in hot oil until golden brown. Serve with spicy ketchup.
